A Day At the Beach: Houston Hosts Its 2021 Sandcastle Competition!

Looking to get away for some beach-fueled fun?

Hope you have your towels and sunscreen ready because AIA Houston will be presenting its 34th Annual Sandcastle competition over in the nearby beach city of Galveston! Nearly 50 different teams will be competing for the amazing Gold Bucket Award, carefully sculpting the finest of sandcastles for the chance to make it big on an artistic and imaginative level.

Firms begin months in advance of the event to generate ideas, develop designs, and assign duties to different teammates. When the day of the event finally rolls around, visitors have the chance to see for themselves the level of detail and precision that each sandcastle showcases, making for an unbelievable experience for everyone. For those of you looking to see something truly extraordinary, this is definitely an event you won’t want to miss. And the best part? It’s 100% FREE.

Galveston is about an hour or so away from the Houston area but most Houstonians are familiar with its climate and perks, complete with its charming sea wall, thriving dockside, and its Pleasure Pier theme park. It’s definitely worth a weekend trip, especially if you’re looking to attend a unique event such as this when it finally rolls around on August 21st.

If you’re living at great Houston apartment locations such as Casa del Mar, Buena Vista, Sedona Pointe, Diamond Hill, Providence at Memorial, and Providence at Baytown, I promise that a trip down to Galveston will ultimately prove to be both easy and an engaging way to become more acquainted with the full Texas travel experience.

I definitely recommend showing up to this amazing event, if only to show support to the many artistic Texans that have dedicated hours of finely cultivated attention and creativity to their craft. Plus you’ll get to enjoy a pleasant Galveston atmosphere so it’s a win-win for everyone! Take the kids out to the beach and see for yourself why the seaside city ultimately provides a uniquely charming experience. Remember to wear your sunscreen!
